This will be the first of many posts where I plan to chronicle my development as both a computer programmer and business student.

## preface

While the content here is entirely original, I must acknowledge that much of the design (i.e., the CSS and HTML) is based off Lashoun's blog. Lashoun is an immensely talented developer and I encourage anyone visiting this site to go check out their Obsidian Vault if they have the time.

I'm hesitant to define the scope of content here. I'm not a professional web developer and this site is maintained solely by me. There is no fancy deployment pipeline; everything is updated manually and I hosted through neocities because it's free. Some tags and links may not be totally up to date, and I would not be surprised if this site were to break on smaller screens. That said, I will do my best and I hope to see this website improves alongside my development.

# introduction

Hi, my name is Jack. I'm from New York City, and I'm currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Analytics and Information Technology (BAIT) at Rutgers University, New Brunswick expected May 2026. Previously, I attended Boston University (Fall 2022 to Spring 2023) where I pursued a double major in Statistics and Quantitative Finance.

My extracurricular interests include reading, web development, listening to records, and playing bass and guitar for multiple bands in the Northeast. I have been blogging for several years as a way to reflect and document my experiences. Blogging combines my interest in web culture and my background as a multimedia artist.

Throughout my coursework in areas like Financial Accounting, Management Information Systems, and Foundations of Business Programming, I have developed a solid foundation in financial analysis, data management, and technology. I have further enhanced my skills through hands-on experience in Python, SQL, Excel, and HTML, enabling me to approach complex problems with a calculated systematic mindset.
